7th Annual Wildlife Baby Shower & Open House

April 2811:00 amApril 30, 2017 5:00 pm
Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Northern Utah

Enjoy our education animal ambassadors, light refreshments, crafts and games for children as well as many sponsored silent auction baskets and items for “the big kids”. This event doesn’t get us through the year, but it’s a big step to starting us on the right path for the coming “Baby Season.”

Our Annual Open House allows the public to meet our volunteers and staff, view parts of our facility, and through one-way viewing and Closed Circuit TV get a glimpse of any current wildlife babies we may have in our care.

Like any “Shower” we appreciate your “tax deductable gifts” (In-kind/cash): check out our Donation Page for ideas.

Fairyopolis

April 28, 2017 @ 7:30 pm9:30 pm
Peery’s Egyptian Theater

Tickets go on sale Monday, March 13th.

Twila was a lonely girl looking for meaning in the dreary gray world she lived in. One day as she was out looking for butterflies she happened upon a garden full of beautiful lilacs, hydrangeas, poppies and peonies. As she wandered through the flowers gazing upon them with utter amazement at their beauty, the flower fairies that lived among them saw Twila’s innocent heart and decided to show themselves to her. Many flowers have useful functions for fairies. Some use them as secure hiding places for precious objects such as stores of magical dust. Each of the fairies in the garden wanted to share something special with Twila.

The Lilac fairies started first by showing Twila the true meaning of friendship. Using their very special way, they gave Twila the ability to make friends as well as be a friend to others. The Hydrangea fairies spent their time with Twila showing her how listening with more than just ears can endow her with great gifts of wisdom that she can share with others as well. The Poppy fairies showered her with the knowledge of how dance can bring joy within oneself as well as bringing joy to others through beauty. The Peony fairies enveloped Twila with love.

This love is the love of ages and Twila learned that underneath all, there is love. Such a foundation of love causes love to grow in all persons and places. The fairies bring Twila to the Twilight ball where they dance and dance until they are all exhausted. As they languish, the Dew Drop fairy brings her dew droplets of light to refresh them, invigorating them to continue with growth and life.

Fairyopolis was choreographed by Raymond Van Mason with the musical score of Felix Mendelsohn and accompanied by the Chamber Orchestra Ogden under the direction of Mike Palumbo.

Tickets are $29-$15 based on proximity to the stage plus a $1.50 Facility Fee. Order your tickets online 24/7 through Smithstix, by phone at 801-689-8700 or in person at the Box Office M-F 10am – 6pm.

Note: There are multiple performances of this show. If you purchase you tickets online, please verify you have the correct date & time before you complete your purchase.

oices: Poetry Slam at Salty Creative

April 29, 2017 @ 6:00 pm9:00 pm
SaltyCreative

*Please Read important details below for performing poets*

Ogden Voices is a organization started by young folks in the community who care about every person being able to both use their voice and hear those of others.

Due to a need to change our location, at the advice of a visiting poet we chose to hold a Poetry Slam this month instead of an Open Mic. We will continue with our Open Mics once we find a venue (or maybe a few) that can support us.

Our timetable for the evening is as follows:
Open Mic: 6 to 6:30 PM
Feature: 6:30 to 7 PM
Poetry Slam: 7 to 9 PM

All are welcome to share at our Open Mic portion for music, poetry, or any other performative art they wish to share. However we request that all Slamming Poets please bring three pieces of poetry for the potential three rounds of poetry we will have.

Remember- Voices: Poetry Slam will be a free speech zone, therefore there may be cussing in the poetry or graphic images described throughout the night.
