9-Ogden Film Festival

June 2, 2017 @ 7:00 pm10:00 pm
Peery’s Egyptian Theater

Tickets go on sale Saturday, April 1st.

Ogden Film Festival is a film festival based in Ogden, Utah, that features short films of 15 minutes or less each. Our mission is to present quality films from around the world as well as support, recognize, and honor filmmakers creating films under 15 minutes.

After the short film segment, we are excited to announce a special screening of the 40-minute film ‘Under An Arctic Sky’ by Chris Burkard & Sweatpants Media. A film about six surfers who set sail along the frozen shores of Iceland, knowing that the worst storm to hit the country in twenty-five years is about to arrive. Enduring constant darkness and stormy seas, they discover perfect waves and make history by surfing under the northern lights. We are pleased to feature this film that will also be playing at Tribeca.

When Paramount Pictures founder William Hodkinson first sketched the mountain peak logo that has since become one of Hollywood’s most recognizable emblems, he said it was in “memory of his childhood home in Utah.” Hodkinson grew up in Ogden and eventually opened the first movie theater in the city. Within a few years, the Ogdenite changed the way movies were produced, distributed, exhibited and has been called “The Man Who Invented Hollywood.”

The inaugural Ogden Film Festival celebrates the best in local film and talent. From acclaimed features to amateur short films, the Ogden Film Festival is a place for filmmakers to showcase their talent to audiences in a historic cinema venue — Peery’s Egyptian Theater.

The Ogden mountains that inspired Hodkinson to reshape Hollywood are proof that talent and inspiration can be found in the most unlikely of places, that artists are only bound by their determination.

Tickets are $5 each. Order your tickets online 24/7 through Smithstix, by phone at 801-689-8700 or in person at the Box Office Monday – Friday 10am to 6pm.
