Not sure if you’ve noticed this recently or not, but Indie Ogden is all about supporting local. Local business, local events, local people… One such person is an artist. He is a particular favorite of a number of our staff & has done so much to help us out, we felt that a simple spotlight (Read Here) just didn’t cut it. So, we are doing a little shout out to our friend, Chris Bodily.
Not only did he make an amazing poster for our Tears Foundation Benefit Show, but he has made some of the coolest, most fantastic logos for us! We’re makin’ swag soon! Partly in thanks to Chris. Lord knows, making something for three ladies, each with very different tastes, can be a challenge. Chris rose to the occasion & gave us something perfect that we all adore.
In addition to all he’s done for us here at Indie Ogden, Chris is a phenomenal freelance artist, with his prints available at Society6 or his website, www.hatrobot.com. He works on commission & is always willing to talk about projects you might like to have done. (Jenny might be sporting a tattoo designed by Chris in the not too distant future…) This month, he started a fantastic game on Facebook called the 31 Days of Halloween. Each day, his friends & fans post drawings according to one theme: Halloween. He provides the subject (ghost, bat, skeleton…you get the idea), participants then post their creations & share them with him. Only a week in & already there have been some really great pieces posted & it’s all because Chris had a brilliant idea.
Now, maybe you knew this already, but it must be mentioned as well: Chris performs nearly every Friday with friends of Indie Ogden, Hilarity House Productions at Salt Rock Coffee, along with teaching their free improv classes at 8pm! Since taking over the classes, they have grown three-fold! (There are theories as to why… *wink* Pretty sure it has a lot to do with the fact he’s an amazing teacher.) But don’t worry, if you have wanted to get out there & see what kind of funny you’ve got in you, you should go! It is a great group of fun people, and, as the saying goes, the more the merrier!
Speaking of what a great teacher he really is, Chris is now offering art classes. Check out his flyer above, shoot him an email, and learn how to draw lots of pretty, awesome & pretty awesome things!
When he’s performing on stage, Chris has a high energy approach with a lot of sneaky, intelligent quips he throws in (probably for his own enjoyment, but that’s part of what makes it so fun!), zany antics (like trying to shove himself through a stool… have we mentioned he’s easily six feet tall?), dance moves that would put this guy to shame & more. He gives great support to his teammates & he shows no fear, accepting anything they hand him with the classic comedy improv rule, “Yes, and…!”
So, that concludes the first of what we hope will be many shout outs to those great folks in the Ogden area who are just plain awesome. Expect many more, especially with our First Annual Best of Ogden Awards coming up in December; there are so many great members of this community & we want you to be in the know.
