Thursday: You’re The Best, Around (Ogden)

Holy cow, folks, have we got some awesome in store for you today. My name is John Cline, and I’ll be taking over the Thursday events posts for Alec. If you don’t know me, I help Indie Ogden with business development and technology, and write some movie reviews every now and then (you can see more at my profile). Now, onto the awesome.

We’ve created a whole new site for the Best of Ogden awards! You can get to it at http://bestof.indieogdenutah.com/ (or http://bit.ly/bestofogden2012 if you’re lazy). It lists all the nominations, has sweet information on our sponsors and vendors, the down low on the raging party on December 7th, and starting November 7th will allow you to vote for winners and buy tickets to the event. Seriously, I told you it was awesome. We’d be remiss for not thanking our sponsors at the Union Station and Crepes Etc. If you want to help out by sponsoring, get more information here.

As for what’s happening today, here’s the lowdown. Art House Cinema is showing some amazing movies, and later today is the kickoff for Startup Weekend Ogden (where I’ll be coding and hacking until it ends on Saturday). You can do yoga just about any time during the day, and the Weber County Main Library has some fun Dia de los Muertos themed activities going on this evening.

So, to get your Thursday kicked off right (and to help you recover from your Halloween Hangover) here  is Joe Esposito’s classic “You’re the Best Around” from the Karate Kid soundtrack:
