Tuesday & Wednesday: Massages and Macarons

macarons-perfect

I am a lucky lucky girl. This Monday I had a massage with Susan Christensen at Sacred Cove Massage & Bodywork. Susan and husband Corey are a massage dream team and the prices are not only reasonable, they are downright affordable when you are someone who struggles with chronic back and neck pain like me. If you are interested you can check out their website at http://www.sacredcovemassage.com/, and their facebook at http://www.facebook.com/sacredcovemassage.

I spent the rest of my Monday tending to my poor sick kids (and secretly giggling that my daughter sounds like the godfather with her scratchy voice) and baking Macarons to cheer them up. Macarons are one of those things I love to make simply because of the effort that goes into them. I age the eggs a full 24 hours, grind my own almond flour, and macarons (as with most meringue based cookies) must rest before baking. You need space and you need to plan ahead. Its a challenge for me, and it makes the finished product that much more rewarding.  Sometimes its the things that take a bit longer that give you the most enjoyment and fulfillment. If you’d like to give it a shot, this recipe has never let me down! http://www.marthastewart.com/319525/parisian-macaroons I hope you all had a wonderful weekend doing the things that challenge and reward you, and enjoy the rest of the week.

Wednesday, February 27, 2013, 7 – 9 p.m. Peery’s Egyptian Theater presents “Dial ‘M’ for Murder” – Alfred Hitchcock manipulates and enthrals his audience here like the master that he is. Each scene has a sense of direction, great pacing, and is staged realistically. Stunning full colour photography and a haunting, atmospheric score from Dimitri Tiomkin completes this great package. The ending, when it comes, feels a little too nice to be truly realistic, but that is my only major quibble with an otherwise highly entertaining, thrilling movie. from imdb.com Tickets $5 GA. Order tickets by phone or at the box office to save online convenience fees.
