Date Night at Galleon’s Gold Jewelry

Whether you’re planning a night out with a girlfriend or looking for something to do with your significant other, finding new and fun things to do is important to keeping any relationship interesting. Movies are great. Dinner is always nice. Sometimes, though, you need to step a bit outside your comfort zone and try something new. There’s always a good chance you could find yourself a new passion!

Last weekend I had the opportunity to take a class given by Galleon’s Gold Jewelry. My date and I were lucky enough to have a private lesson by the talented silversmith, Rene Venegas, making a beautiful set of bracelets. Neither of us had ever created our own jewelry before, but Rene quickly put us at ease and explained the entire process to us.

All the tools and materials are provided. Rene is there to guide you through each step of the process.

For any gals that are worried that their guy won’t be into a jewelry-making class (or guys that think it doesn’t really sound like their cup of tea) – think again! I promise you won’t be disappointed. We had a ton of fun hammering, soldering, hammering, buffing, polishing, and hammering some more. In the end, we had a unique set of handmade bracelets to take home and had a ton of fun making them. I can’t wait to take another class!

Galleon’s Gold offers classes and workshops for all skill levels. A list of upcoming classes and information can be found here. They also offer demonstrations and one-day classes to schools, church groups, birthday parties, etc. Check out their website for more information!

I’m an Ogden native and I think this town is pretty rad. When I’m not adventuring with my offspring I can be found watching old VHS movies, hitting up the thrift store, or reading a book.
