Indie Ogden Review: Sushi Totto

Have you ever watched Dragon Ball Z? You know when Goku eats, and it’s kind of like he has a tiny tornado in his mouth, and it’s just sucking food in? Ya, that was me at Sushi Totto.  This restaurant is new in town, and they invited me in to try out some of their favorites which included a feast of ramen, sushi, gyozo, edamame, and poke.

We need to spend the next paragraph talking about this poke, or I won’t be able to continue. Everywhere that I have ordered poke it has been fish and rice. That’s fine, and I enjoyed it just the same. However, what Sushi Totto brought out was no ordinary poke bowl; this was a work of art!  Seasoned rice, the freshest raw fish, spicy micro greens, crunchy edamame, thin shredded and marinated carrots, seaweed salad and the prettiest lotus root on top. I mean, it was so pretty I almost felt bad eating it. Well, until the first bite and then I blacked out, and the bowl was empty. I don’t know what happened.

Ok, moving on!

The food at Sushi Totto is fresh and clearly crafted with love. You can tell when a chef views his food as an art form and not a job. This was pure art. Each roll was delicately put together; even the ramen noodles were twisted and placed just so.

Speaking of ramen,  let me tell you about this bowl. Pork belly, perfectly poached egg and broth that’ll make you sing for more. I took some home for my lunch the next day; it didn’t last 30 minutes before I devoured it and this is after I inhaled a table full of good eats.

I could go on and on about the food. How the crunchy rolls had literal layers of flavor that unfolded in your mouth or how the gyoza dough was perfectly crisp to the last bite or even how the edamame was like no other. No, I won’t force you to sit here and read every detail.  Instead, I want you to get up and go right now and get yourself something to eat. Go! You deserve it.
